Start with the feeling

It is tempting to begin with a room, a colour or a date. Start instead with the feeling you want your guests to take away. Energised? Connected? Celebrated? That intention gives every later choice a useful test.

Write down three words that describe your ideal atmosphere. Then consider the people attending, how they know one another and what would help them feel welcome. A clear starting point makes the creative conversation more productive.
